So, who am I, exactly?

Hi, there. I'm so glad you're here. I thought perhaps, my blog launch needed an intro to me, the author. My name is Amanda, and I'm a Children's Librarian in a rural library system in South Carolina. I've been a public librarian for about three months, and before that, I was a School Library Media Specialist, where I worked for almost five years in three different schools, serving diverse populations of students from preschool to grade eight. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from King University in English and History, and a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. My husband and I have been married just shy of 4 years, and we have a 4 year old hound mix named Copper, who thinks that we exist to serve him. I love reading, listening to podcasts, music, travel, and the beach.

So, why am I blogging?
I love to write. It gives me a way to express myself, and I happen to think I'm pretty good at it. (If you disagree, that's fine. But I enjoy my writing.)
I enjoy reading book reviews that are point-blank honest. Sometimes it helps me to see what other people really think about a work, especially after I've read it. You know, I like to make sure I'm not completely crazy.
I believe that there is room for a blog about library programming, especially for the 0-12 set. There are several AMAZING blogs out there, and those are invaluable resources for me, professionally. But I still believe there's room for more. I'm hopeful that, eventually, my content will be just as useful as those others have been to me.

That's great. So... what am I blogging?
- book reviews
- information about my library programming experiences
- professional activities (conferences, etc.)
- and maybe other book-ish things?

Anything I didn't answer or that you'd like to know, please contact me! I love making connections.

Happy reading!
